<p>Thin-walled castings of vermicular graphite-contg. cast Fe are produced by treating Fe contg. 0.01 (0.006)% S with a pre-alloy contg. 75% Si, 1% Al, 0.5-5% Ca and 4-20% rare earth metals, e.g. Ce misch metal. Pre-alloy, having fine graining with granulometry 1-4 mm, is pref. charged to a treatment compartment in the mould pour system. Castings resist strong temp. changes and can be used as vehicle exhaust pipes. Ce proportion increase allows simple, accurate dosage. Al has an inoculant activity.</p> |
