The machine produces polygonal cross-section cardboard tubes from shaped portions. The flat portions are cut to shape and they are bent round a mandrel by shaping tools and joined at the ends by a punch in conjunction with glue in the desired shape. The tools comprise two clamping jaws which are designed to fit round the mandrel and a clamping belt fits round the jaws and can adapt to the shape of the mandrel. A pivot bearing is provided for each jaw so that it can swing to and from the mandrel.
