Long distance ski safety binding providing a releasing hold of a front section of the ski boot. The binding section (19) tensioning the ski boot sole (23) is positioned on a base plate (18) and has a turnable bearing on the ski round a support point vertical to the ski. The binding section is locked to the ski (10) by a locking and release device in such a way that it can be released together with the ski boot from the ski when stong torsion forces arise acting on to the boot through rotation round an axis vertical to the ski. The support point round which the binding section rotates under torsion force is position in the rear of the binding section.
