This invention provides a buffing member for use in a polishing process of final finishing or a primary finishing of a coating, the buffing member being capable of suppressing the generation of trace of buffing by suppressing the generation of heat at the polishing surface. The buffing member is characterized in being capable of polishing a surface of a member to be polished by rotating a disc member so that an outer peripheral surface of the disc member contacts the surface of the member to be polished, wherein the disc member is in the shape of a circular disc having a part of the region of 2 to 40% of the radius from the outer periphery to the central portion being cut out, and the material constituting the outer periphery of the disc member is constituted by a material selected from a napped cloth, felt, flannel, non woven fabric, towel cloth, and sponge.
