PURPOSE:To rapidly and easily synthesize and output a multilevel image with a character image described in the program of a page descriptive language by describing multilevel image data by the attribute of an image such as the name of an image or that of an image reader, etc., and reading actual multilevel image data at the time of developing a page description program. CONSTITUTION:A PDL (page descriptive language) program inputted via an interface i/o15 is stored in a RAM 4. An interpreter 10 develops the image of a character on a page memory 6 when the content of the PDL program is the 'character' by controlling a mapping driver 5. Also, when it is the 'name', the content is developed on the page memory 6 by the mapping driver 5. And the mapping driver 5 writes image data read from the image reader 8 on the page memory 6, and generates the synthetic image of a character image and an original image on the page memory 6. A device driver 7 outputs the content of the page memory 6 to an image output device 9. |
