Apparatus for reducing a low density, thermoplastic foam material to a higher density comprised a hopper for receiving quanties of the materials therein either as chunks or as a pulverulent mass. Compaction mechanism in communication with the ouplet of the hopper provided heated rollers that enlarge the material and elevate the temp. thereof to the softening point, there by enable the material to fuse in to a higher density mass.
