PCM PABX exchange common control - has CPU with ROM and signal RAM connected to exchange data highway

The equipment configuration is for switching PCM connections in a telephone exchange, including PABXs. The analogue incoming subscriber lines 1 Pi to nPi) are multiplexed (MUX) into parallel form onto a super dataplex highway (SM) through the exchange. The microcomputer (ZS) control of the exchange is connected to the highway and comprises microprocessor central control (CPU) using programmes contained in a read-only memory (ROM) referred to as the programme store. The working store and line condition store is random-access memory (RAM) into which the sub scriber signals are fed so that they can be switched between time slots and output to the demultiplexer (DEM) on the output multiple (1Po...nPo) of the exchange. A signal generator (SG) is connected to the highway to provide signalling tones to subscribers.
