The tobacco harvesting machine has a chassis with a conveyor device with peripheral grippers for the foot of a tobacco plant, to feed it to a cutting device where it is cut, brought into a higher position, turned over and moved to a storage device. The conveyor is in the form of a plate driven about a vertical axis. The grippers are controlled according to the instantaneous position on their path with respect to the gripper opening. The lifting device has two arms in a vertical plane, each with a controlled gripper at the ends.
