NEW MATERIAL:Oligosaccharide A having following properties: 1) element analyses; C, 41.52%. H, 6.50%, 2) molecular weight, 504, 3) melting point, 202-204 deg.C, 4) specific rotatory power, [alpha]D<22>+45 deg. (C=1.5 in water), 5) solubility; easily soluble in water, insoluble in acetone, alcohol, chloroform and benzene, hard soluble in aqueous alcohol, 6) coloring reactions; positive to aniline-phthalic acid reaction and to ammonia-silver nitrate, 7) color, white needles, 8) pH, neutral, 9) binding saccharides, galactose (beta-D-linkage). USE:A polysaccharide useful in biochemistry and medicine. PREPARATION:For example, a spore suspension or culture medium of a bacterium producing oligo saccharide A, e.g. Bacillus specy (FERM-4773), is innoculated in a culture medium and cultured by aeration or vibration. |
