A sign post comprises vertically and horizontally extending frame elements (3, 2) which are connected to form one or more compartments for accommodating sign-boards. Each of the horizontal frame elements is provided with securing means (10) comprising a foot, a body and a cross piece extending transversely w.r.t. the body. The gaps between the cross piece and the foot form recesses to accommodate the wedge on the locking rail. Each of the horizontal elements has a longitudinal slot into which fits a resilient signboard fastener.
