The jig plate transports and secures components, esp. during machining operations, being at least partly of magnetisable material, and with a number of magnets on one side. The plate (1) is movable parallel to and in the lengthwise direction of the poles of the fixed magnets (12). These poles extend over only part of the plate surface in the direction of plate movement. One or more sections of the plate moving over the poles are of non-magnetisable material and contain a number of pins or strips (5) of magnetisable material extending for the thickness of the plate and for a limited length in the travel direction.
