<p>A hole or axially aligned holes is or are drilled in bone and a nail unit, comprising concentrically arranged tube 41 and pin 43, is introduced until the leading end has passed through the hole or through the first and second aligned holes. Said leading end 41A comprises slots 42 extending longitudinally of the tube. Means comprising a body 46 and a threaded member 47 are provided to cause movement of the pin 43 axially of the tube 41 to cause a conical end 44 of the pin 43 to spread or splay the tube parts which are created by said slots 42. Said means are also operable, in an opposite sense, to effect extraction of the nail unit. <IMAGE></p> |
