PURPOSE:To provide lubricating oil composition of improved light stability, by adding a radical chain inhibitor, an ultraviolet ray absorbent and thiodipropionic ester to base oil obtained by distilling hydrogenated heavy hudrocarbon oil or the like. CONSTITUTION:A raw material for base oil distillate is brought into contact with H2 at a temperature of about 250-410 deg.C and a liquid space velocity of about 0.3-3V/H/V under pressure of about 40-220kg/cm<2> in the presence of a hydrogenating catalyst to produce bas oil. This base oil is mixed with about 0.01-3wt% of a radical chain inhibitor represented by the formula I, where R1 and R2 show 4-20C tertiary alkyl, R3 shows H, OH or straight-chain primary alkyl, about 0.01- 0.5wt% of an ultraviolet ray absorbent represented by the formula II, where R, R' and R'' show H, halogen, alkyl, OH or alkoxy or/and by the formula III, where R''' shows H or alkyl and R'''' shows alkyl or alkoxy, and about 0.005-0.2wt% of thiodipropionic ester. Lubricating oil composition is thus manufactured. |
