Housing with light emitter or detector - has self alignment for optical fibre and catch locating in recess and element on precision frame

A self-adjusting housing is for fitting light emitter or light detector modules in an optical system with optic fibres. The housing has an alignment hole and a catch for the light emitting surface of the module. An optic fibre is inserted through the hole and produces an exact alignment for coupling with the light source. The catch forms an integral part of the housing with the alignment hole. The optic fibre is aligned with a l.e.d. which is fitted with precision on a frame. The fibre is fixed in the alignment hole by a transparent epoxy resin adhesive. The remainder of the space inside the socket can be filled with a black epoxy resin.
