摘要 <p>1453595 Coated electrostatographic carrier particles XEROX CORP 9 Nov 1973 [21 Nov 1972] 52122/73 Heading G2H An electrostatographic developer composition comprises toner particles and carrier particles, the carrier particles comprising a core particle; and a coating surrounding the core particle, the coating comprising a substituted and/or unsubstituted poly (p-xylylene) polymer. The carrier particle is preferably made of steel, but other materials useful are NaCl, NH 4 Cl, AIKCl 4 , Rochelle salt, NaNO 3 , KClO 4 , granular zircon, granular silicon, methyl methacrylate, glass, SiO 2 , flintshot, iron, ferrite, nickel, carborundum and their mixtures. The particles may have a diameter of 1Á to 10<SP>3</SP>Á. The particles may have a primer coating of a siloxane, especially when they contain surface hydroxyl or oxide functions with which silanes may react to form siloxanes. Preferred silanes from which siloxanes are produced are, R a <SP>1</SP> wherein: R is an ethylenically unsaturated group such as R<SP>1</SP> is a monovalent hydrocarbon group; X is a hydrolizable and/or condensable radical such as halogen, alkoxy, aryloxy, or acyloxy; and a is 0, 1 or 2. Suitable siloxanes are vinyltrichloro silane, vinylmethyldichloro silane and gamma-methylacryloxypropyl trimethoxy silane. Other p-xylylene polymers may be used having different substituent groups such as alkyl, aryl, alkenyl, amino, cyano, carboxyl, alkoxy, hydroxy alkyl, hydoxyl, nitro or other halogen. Particularly mentioned substituent groups are methyl, ethyl, propyl, hexyl, phenyl, alkylated phenyl, naphthyl, bromo, iodo and fluoro. The polymer may be a homopolymer or a copolymer of differently substituted p-xylylene components.</p>
