PURPOSE:To eliminate occurrence of strain possibly leading to leakage of oil, by forming a projection at the portion of stiffener where it is spot-welded to the oil pan, and spot-welding the stiffener to the oil pan by use of electrodes respectively having a sufficiently large working surface. CONSTITUTION:Stiffener 7 is fixed to oil pan 1 by use of stiffener 7 having a low projection 10 at the portion thereof where it is spot-welded and electrodes 8, 9 respectively having a sufficiently large end face (working surface) 11, 12. By shaping the electrodes 8, 9 to have sufficiently large end faces 11, 12, respectively, it is enabled to use them as a press which does not produce strain near the spot- welded portion. Current from electrode 8 is passed through projection 10 on stiffener 7 to electrode 9, and spot welding is carried out while flattening the projection 10. Thus, the position where projection 10 is located serves as spot-welding point. |
