The apparatus comprises membranes which are generally selectively permeable and is made up of two separate zones (14, 23), one permitting exchanges between the treated fluid and an auxiliary fluid across a membrane (16), the other permitting the separation of a component from the treated fluid across a membrane (21). These zones are passed through by the fluid to be treated either in parallel or in series. Application to an artificial kidney with simultaneous and separate treatment of the blood by haemodialysis and by ultrafiltration.
