NEW MATERIAL:An antibiotic substance Bu-2349A or its pharmacologically permissible acid addition salt: chemical formula, C44H85-87N7O24-25; structural characteristics, shown in Table I; solubility, soluble in water, slightly soluble in methanol and dimethylsulfoxide, and insoluble in ordinary organic solvents; white and amorphous solid; reactions, positive to ninhydrin and anthrone, negative to FeCl3 and Sakaguchi's; decomposition temperature, >=215 deg.C; elemental analysis; C 44.48%, H 7.34%, N 8.37%, Cl 6.44%, and O 33.37%; and specific rotatory power, [alpha]D<22>=+109 deg. (C=1.0 H2O). USE:Remedy for infectious diseases of mammals caused by gram-positive and gram- negative bacteria (including bacteria resistant to amino-glycoside). PROCESS:Bacteria belonging to Bacillus genus and capable of producing Bu-2349A substance are cultured in an aqueous nitrient medium under aerobic and immersed conditions. |
