<p>Battery has Li as negative active material, thionyl chloride as positive active material and a soln. of a complex salt resulting from the action of at least one ionisable cpd. an AlCl3, in through chloride as electrolyte Specifically ionisable cpd. is CaO or BaO, molar concn. of which is approx. half that of the AlCl3. Positive electrode includes a porous carbon-based collector, pref. a mixt of acetylene soot with approx 15% PTFE soot, having a porosity of about 82%. Electrolyte may also include as solvent phosphery chloride. Battery achieves its normal emf from the commen of discharge with having recourse to polymeric films for protecting the Li electrodes during storage periods to prevent passivation.</p> |
