Noise suppression circuit for communications channels - cancels independent noise components by adding signals together

The noise suppression circuit has its input signal divided and passed along two paths each exhibiting noise independent of the other. An output signal is constructed from the signals from these two paths such that the output signal is proportional to the sum of the outputs. The two paths have approx. identical transmission and noise properties. If the signals are recorded then at least two recordings are made of independent noise. A resultant signal is derived from the replay signal such that the resultant is proportional to the sum of the replay signals. The independent noise components in the two signals largely cancel one another when the signals are added.
