The panel (1) of the slab is provided, in its upper face, with grooves (2) which can be made either parallel, or in a square or cross shape. Instead of the grooves, it is also possible to provide blind holes (3). A double strip comprising a lower face (6) and an upper face (7) is fixed into the groove (2) or the blind hole (3) by means of a layer of adhesive (8). The double strip is formed of two similar parts which are joined together by the engagement of tiny hooks provided on their surface. The under face (10) of a carpet (11) is fixed to the upper face (7) of the strip by means of another layer of adhesive (9). With such a fixing system, the carpet (11) may be easily removed and replaced after wear, without replacing the panel. <IMAGE>
