Fuel composition and process for the manufacture of this composition

Fuel compositions which can be employed for the manufacture of firelighters are manufactured, comprising a matrix of cured resin in which hydrocarbon oil and particles of solid fuel material are distributed. The said particles of solid material are of such size that a proportion of at least 95 % is retained on a screen which has a mesh number of 35 according to British standards (nominal opening size: 0.44 mm). They consist of wood or peat reduced to small particles, preferably of granulated wood or peat. The firelighters produced from these compositions are more effective than those of the prior art, although they contain less hydrocarbon oil.
