Sewage treatment system - has anti:turbulence space between aeration and reclarification basins, requires less floor-space

In a sewage treatment plant with a central sludge thickening section surrounded by concentric aeration basin and finnl clarification basin, a circular partition in the aeration basin forms a separate anti-turbulence space. Its run-off channels terminate through piping above the thickening zone of the final clarification basin. The anti-turbulence space reduces the sludge content to 25-35%; the deposited sludge is recycled to the aeration basin. No oxygen is introduced in it so that a denitrification zone is formed to break up the nitrates.
