PURPOSE:To perform centering and fixing of a photo element to a connector readily, rapidly and accurately by interposing a plastic body between the photo element and the inside circumferential surface of a socket seat and moving and adjusting the photo element while plastically deforming this plastic body. CONSTITUTION:In the method of positioning and fixing the photo element E to be opposed to the end part of an optical fiber F within the socket seat 14 of a receptacle 11 constituting the connector, the photo element E is positioned together with the support ring R fitting the same on its side face within the socket seat 14 of the receptacle 11. A plastic body 16 is inserted between the photo element E fitted with said support ring R and the inside circumferential surface of the socket seat 14 and the photo element is moved and adjusted while this plastic body 16 is being plastically deformed. Such constitution makes it possible to perform the centering work and fixing work of the photo element E readily, rapidly and accurately. |
