A building panel comprises translucent or other facing sheets 12 adhered to a core formed of parallel ladder-like units 11a, 11b, 11c, 11d which are spaced to leave channels 15, each ladder-like unit comprising longitudinal and transverse I-section members 20, 21 of plastics or aluminium. Light-transmitting coloured strips 22, Fig. 2 (not shown), running the length of the panel extend diagonally across the channels 15 and are located in grooves in the flanges of the I-members 20. I-section top and bottom rails 13, 14 may be provided, the strips 22 being inserted through oblique slots in the bottom rail 14 and being then retained by self-tapping screws or other fastenings. The strips 22 may thus readily be replaced by strips of different colour. The sheets 12 and strips 22 shown are of polyester glass fibre. In a modification the rails 13, 14 are omitted and the panel edges are closed on site by flexible strips as in Specification. 1,059,275.
