Such a valve has a fixed control disc (1) with a first and a second throughflow opening (2, 3) for cold water and hot water, respectively, and a return opening (4) for mixed water. The upper surface of the disc (1) interacts with the surface of a translatable regulating disc which has an open recess for connecting the openings (2) and/or (3) to opening (4). Underneath the disc (1) there is a soft packing (6) which forms two loops (7, 8) and surrounds the openings (2, 3) individually and opening (4) with a large clearance. Under pressure from above in operation, this gives rise to a reaction surface which compensates for this pressure and by which the disc (1) is relieved, thereby avoiding sagging, which would produce a leak. As a result, it is possible to make the disc (1) thin in order to reduce the overall height of the valve and to do this without disadvantageous consequences. <IMAGE>
