The hydroxy.sulfonic acid deriv. of a copolymer of acrolein and acrylic acid comprises a cpd. with repeat unit formula: where n is an integer denoting a polymerisation degree of 190-600, m is an integer denoting a polymerisation degree of 190-500 and p is an integer denoting a polymerisation degree of 830-850. The hydroxy.sulfonic acid deriv. a copolymer of acrolein and acrylic acid is medically used as a blood coagulating inhibitor to prevent thrombogensis and cardiac diseases.
