Decorative colours and patterns can be conveniently applied to small domestic electrical appliances such as electric toasters, in the following way. A large sheet of metal from which several covers (2) will be produced is first painted in the required colours and printed with the decorations (18) in the appropriate places. The sheet is then completely covered with a protective coating and is cut into individual blanks which have the holes (14) stamped out. The blanks are then folded to the finished shape and the protective coating is removed to reveal the decorations (18).
