The pantograph lifting platform, especially for motor vehicles, comprises a pair of side members (1, 1') which rest on the ground, a pair of rails (4, 4') which can be lifted with respect to said side members and two pairs of uprights (2, 3, 2', 3') which are articulated to both the two side members and to the two rails and form two articulated parallelograms, a pair of homologous uprights being connected together at ground level by means of a torsion bar (5). A retention ratchet gear locks the platform in case of accidental breakdown, thereby preventing it from falling, and a pair of valves located at the input of the two lifting jacks also lock the platform, including during its descent, i.e. when the retaining ratchet gear is disengaged, and so prevent the platform from falling or in any case from descending too quickly. On the platform according to the invention there is no direct link between the two rails and therefore mechanics can work beneath the raised motor vehicle without anything getting in their way and in the utmost safety. It also permits the installation of a movable transverse carriage which can move along the entire length of the rails. <IMAGE>
