Miniature DC motor with barrel runner mfr. - using ready made radial slip winding to form barrel runner winding

The motor has a freely rotating barrel runner between a cylindrical magnetic core and a magnetic sleeper. The barrel runner winding is formed from a machine wound radial slip winding (6) using at least three axially spaced sets of hook elements (4), arranged around the periphery of respective conical faces of a stepped former (3), with the insulating disc (2) for carrying the winding abutting the latter on the collector side. This disc (2) acts simultaneously as the winding core and as an auxiliary former and it is fixed to the runner shaft (1). The radial winding loops (7) of the radial slip winding may be elliptical or hexagonal in cross-section and they are axially angled at the bottom end of the carrier (2).
