Perfluoroalkyl-alkyl acrylate ester (co)polymers - useful as hydrophobic, oleophobic and stain repellent treatments and as polish, wax, oil and lubricant additives

The novel (co)polymers are derived from esters (I) of formula: Rf-(CH2CRF)pCnH2nOCO(CH2)-m-1-CR1=CHR2 (I) (where Rf is 3-12C perfluoroalkyl, R is H of F, R1 and R2 are H or Me, m is 1 or 2, n is 2-12, p is 1-3) and opt. other comonomers. They give better hydrophobic and oleophobic props. than known polymers contg. interrupted perfluoroalkyl gps. and are used for treating e.g. leather wood, textiles (esp.) metals, plastics and glass, and also as stain-repellents for waxes and polishes and antiwear and -corrosion additives for oils and lubricants. They are prepd. by normal free-radical polymsn. pref. in aq. emulsion or org. solvents.
