The sound absorber comprises a plurality of sound-absorbing elements. These sound-absorbing elements are pipe sections (3) which are arranged in front of the room wall (1). Said pipe sections are arranged in a plurality of layers. A layer (2) of sound-absorbing material is arranged between the room wall (1) and the layer (3a) located nearest to said wall. Due to the circular cross-sectional shape of the sound-absorbing elements (3), there are no planar flanks which scatter the reflected sound waves.
