PURPOSE:To improve response characteristics at the time of automatic cross-polarization compensation by controlling a variable phase shifter so that a detected difference between an angle of a long axis of an elliptically polarized wave to a horizontal axis and that to an lambda/4 board formed of a converter will lessen. CONSTITUTION:Converter lambda/4 board 2 and lambda/2 board 3 convert either one of elliptically polarized waves generated in a propagating space of polarized waves by rainfall and bearing mutually-reverse turn relation into a linearly polarized wave. In front of the converter, polarizer 4 which separating both polarized waves mutually after conversion and variable phase shifter 23 converting polarized waves are provided and controller 42 detects a difference between an angle of the long axis of an elliptically polarized wave to the horizontal axis and that to lambda/4 board 2 formed of the converter to control phase shifter 23 so that the difference will lessen. Consequently, response characteristics at the time of automatic cross-polarization compensation can be improved.
