Fluid operated drive cylinder - includes recesses extending over measuring range in surface of piston rod

The fluid operated drive cylinder has an arrangement to deliver path-dependent electrical pulses. There are recesses extending over a given measuring range in the surface of the piston rod running transverse to the piston rod axis. The spacing of these recesses relates to the desired measuring intervals and they are filled with a material which has a different magnetic conductivity to that of the base material of the piston rod. There is a field plate sensor on the cylinder head at a given fixed spacing from the piston rod surface. The recesses extend over the complete circumference of the piston rod.
