PURPOSE:To improve the thermal efficiency of a thermal head by forming a protective film on an electrade, and a wear resisting layer, which has a length greater than that of dot of a heating section and smaller than that of the protective film, on the protective film, whereby the heat generated can be transferred efficiently to printing paper without being scattered. CONSTITUTION:A heating resistor element 3 is provided on an alumina base 2 which is laid on a mount base 1, and an electrode 4 is provided on the heating element 3 so as to form a heating section 3'. A protective film 7 consisting of an insulating material of a comparatively low themal conductivity is provided such as to cover the electrode 4 and heating section 3'. A wear resisting layer 8 having a lenght greater than that of dot of the heating section and smaller than that of the protective film 7 is provided on the protective film 7. According to this structure, the heat generated in the heating section 3' can be transferred to recording paper without being scattered at the heating section 3'. |
