PURPOSE:To obtain the title filler with excellent separating property of an organic oligomeric substance by a method wherein a mixed solution comprising mono and polyvinyl aromatic monomer and a solvent is suspended in water and subjected to a radical polymerization in the presence of a specific polymerization initiator under a specific polymerization condition. CONSTITUTION:Total amount 100 parts by wt. comprising 65-90 parts by wt. of a monovinyl aromatic monomer such as styrene, vinyltoluene or the like and 35-10 parts by wt. of a polyvinyl aromatic monomer such as divinylbenzene, trivinylbenzene or the like are blended with 30-200 parts by wt. of a solvent capable of dissolving poly-styrene such as toluene, xylene or the like to obtain a mixed solution and this solution is suspended in water. Subsequently, the obtained suspension is subjected to a polymerization reaction by using an initiator having a half life period of 2-60 min. at 70 deg.C at a temperature which renders the said half life period of the said initiator to a range of 5-120min, until at least of a polymerization ratio is reached to 50% to obtain a filler for a chromatography comprising a bridged copolymer of an aromatic vinyl compound. |
