<p>This disclosure is concerned with stringed or similar instruments having keyboards in which variations in pitch and tone are effected by enabling longitudinal backward and forward movement of the keys in addition to their tone-producing depressing operation, with, for example, the tensioning of the strings themselves being altered in response to the longitudinal backward and forward movement of the corresponding key; or, in the case of electronic instruments, causing transducers or similar devices to be acted upon by the longitudinal movement to effect electronic variation in note production in response thereto.</p> |
