PURPOSE:To allow a capacitor for discharging to function also for removing ripples by short-circuiting both ends of a current limiting means with a short- circuiting means after lighting in a lighting device having the capacitor for discharging directly feeding a current to an electric lamp when lighting is started and the current limiting means connected in series to it. CONSTITUTION:A DC power source 2 and the secondary side of a high-frequency transformer 3 are connected in series to a DC discharge lamp 1 such as a xenon lamp, a high-voltage generating device 4 is connected to the primary side of the transformer 3, a lighting switch 5 is turned on to generate the high voltage from the device 4. A capacitor for discharging 6 is provided in parallel with the discharge lamp 1 and the secondary side of the transformer 3, a current limiting means 7 constituted of a resistor or the like is connected in series to it. A current detecting means 11 is provided in series to the discharge lamp 1, both ends of the means 7 are short-circuited according to the detected output of the means 11 after lighting is detected, the capacitor 6 and the discharge lamp 1 are directly connected by a switching means 12. |
