Monitoring broken yarn ends on cross-wound bobbins - by applying cylinder rotating in opposite direction whose adherent surface catches yarn

Yarn ends on wound bobbins in cross-winding machines are searched by applying to the wound bobbins rotating in one direction a member rotating in the opposite direction and provided with an adherent or adhesive surface to lift the yarn end off the bobbin. The member is displaced towards a tying device associated with the supply bobbin for transfer of the yarn end. Compressed air or suction are dispensed with to reduce attendant noise.
