PURPOSE:To control overcharge to a minimum by adding an arrestor to catch dissolved in antimony ion in electrolyte to the material of isolating plate. CONSTITUTION:An isolating plate made of pulp, a synthetic resin, a rubber, etc., contains an arrestor to catch dissolved antimony ion in electrolyte, e.g., tannic acid, sodium alizarin sulfonate, salicylic acid, p-cresol, resorcinol, etc. The arrestor in either liquid or powdery is contained in the isolating plate by attaching to the surface of the isolating plate, by mixing it in the materials of the isolating plate, by attaching it with a binder such as phenol resin, etc., or by melting it with a thermal plastic resin present in the isolating plate materials. The preferred amount of the arrestor is 5% or more of the weight of the isolating plate. Thus, the deposition of antimony ion eluted from anodic plate into electrolyte can be suppressed, thus permitting the enhancement of cathodic potential and also the reduction of overcharge to a minimum. |
