PURPOSE: To accurately process a size and an alignment of a roller having both layers by covering an unmolded roller with a copper, then covering it with a ceramic material, further penetrating it through a ceramic layer, and providing a pit arriving at a copper layer, thereby providing a high wear resistance on an outer periphery of the roller. CONSTITUTION: A pitted roller 3 is formed of a core 8 of a steel product. The core 8 is supported at both ends via bearings, and covered on its outer periphery with, for example, a continuous copper layer 9 by electroplating. Its thickness is about 50 μm. After a copper layer 9 is formed, the core 8 is ground and polished to form a desired size. Then, its outer surface is processed, and a copper surface formed in a desired accurate size and accurate cylindrical shape is covered with a continuous ceramic layer 10. The roller having a coating of a three-layer structure is formed with pores, i.e., pits 5 engraved by a laser beam on the periphery. Its engraving depth is of the degree that the pits 5 penetrate through the layer 10, extends into the copper layer having an affinity for an ink but does not penetrate the copper layer. |
