<p>At least part of the threads to be woven, braided, knitted, etc. into a fabric, the threads of which are to be bonded together and coated with a synthetic material, are clad before hand with a compact, expandable synthetic such as PVC, polyurethane, polyamide, etc. The threads may have different characteristics, and their claddings may also be different from each other. To obtain a uniform product the fabric is treated chemically or physically and may be lacquered embossed and finished in other ways also. The goods can be produced not only much more cheaply, but also in a simpler and quicker manner, giving a wider range of possibilities in the product. The threads used may be synthetic or natural, and of glass or metal, and the treatment produces a leather-like material which, dependent upon its constitution may be watertight or permeable, abrasion resistant, fireproof, as well as suitable for manufacturing three-dimensional objects.</p> |
