PURPOSE:To liquefy the title compound useful as a hardener for epoxy resins, by heat-treating a maleinized decatriene, which is solid at normal temperature, in the presence of a nitrogen-containing organic compound. CONSTITUTION:Meleinized decatriene, which is solid at normal temperature, e.g. maleinized alloocimene of formula I or II, is liquefied in the presence of a nitrogen- containing organic compound, e.g. N,N',N'-tetramethyl 1,3-butanediamine having tertiary amine nitrogen atoms, at 60-250 deg.C. The starting material is obtained by subjecting a decatriene, e.g. alloocimene of formula III, to the Diels-Alder reaction with maleic anhydride in a solvent, e.g. benzene, at 50-150 deg.C. USE:Acid components for unsaturated polyester resins, e.g. alkyd resins. |
