The reducing valve has a built in safety stage which is suitable for use with pressurised gas used in heating and cooking appliances. High pressure gas is supplied through the main stage (5) that is in the form of a ball valve spring loaded into the closed position. An actuator pin (15) is moved downwards to allow the valve to open. A rolling diaphragm (3) with a metal backing disc is subject to force applied by coiled spring (4) mounted in a cap assembly (21). The cap assembly is secured to the base (1) and has a gas tight seal. Pressure may be set by turning the screw top (21) to load the spring, thereby determining the point at which the pin (15) moves. The outlet (6) from the valve is over a retained ball that reacts to pressure difference between valve chamber (8) and the connecting line.
