<p>Parent patent described a horizontal, cylindrical, wine-making vesse, which is rotatable on its longitudinal axis. Inside the vessel, fixed to its circumferential wall, a coaxial, helical conveyor ribbon is used to carry solids to a discharge part in one end of the vessel. The conveyor ribbon is divided into several successive sections which are angularly offset and slightly overlap each other longitudinally. In this addn., the conveyor ribbon is in two sections only. A first, longer section extends from the end opposite to the discharge port almost to the other end. The second, shorter section extends from the end wall adjacent the discharge port. The first section of ribbon is flat sided. The second section of ribbon is pref. channeled to form a gutter along one side. Arrangement reduces danger of solids agglomerating as masses which are not readily evacuated via the discharge port. The only channeled screw conveyor surface is immediately adjacent to the discharge port so that residue can be manually removed without difficulty.</p> |
