Vehicle anti-dazzle rear view mirror - tilts automatically when lit by following vehicles using electromagnet activated by photocell

The rear view mirror is for motor vehicles and may be fitted internally or externally. It has an automatic tilt mechanism to prevent the driver from being dazzled by traffic behind him. Tilting is by an electro-magnet or motor fitted behind the mirror which is activated by a photocell at the front of the mirror. The mirror is returned to its normal position by a spring after a preset delay once the rear illumination dissapears. A potentiometer is included so that the level of light activating the tilt can be varied by the driver. The mirror circuit is switched on automatically with the vehicle headlights or sidelights. For daytime use the photocell can be recessed within a tube cutting out all but rear illumination.
