a) 35-75 weight % drying and/or semi-drying oil, their mixtures and/or their fatty acids, optionally containing up to 6 weight % maleic anhydride adduct, 0-20 weight % other aliphatic, cycloaliphatic and/or aromatic carboxylic acids and - if available - their anhydrides, b) 5-35 weight % of di- to hexa-hydric polyalcohols or their mixtures are esterified or alcoholysed with heating, and c) the OH group-containing ester obtained is reacted in excess with 0.05-50 weight % mono- and/or polyisocyanates or their mixtures so that 0.03-0.2 OH group equiv./100 g. resin remain in the reaction product, d) the reaction product is reacted, with heating, with 2-20 weight % polycarboxylic acid anhydride/s in amounts such that the reaction product has an acid no. of 15-110 and e) optionally reacted with NH3 or strong organic N bases until it is capable of being diluted with water to the required extent. |
