903,023. Coiling textile sliver. LUWA A.G. Sept. 7, 1960 [Sept. 8, 1959], No. 30897/60. Class 120 (3). A method of depositing a continuous sliver in a can on a textile machine comprises guiding the sliver into the can by means of a rotating coiler element including a guide duct 4 so that the sliver enters the can in a direction tangential to the exit portion of the coiler element and imparting to the sliver as it leaves the coiler element a horizontal velocity component V<SP>1</SP> substantially equal to the linear velocity u of the exit portion of the coiler element and which is rearwardly directed relative to the direction of rotation of this element. As shown, the sliver is guided in a tube 4 which is curved in three dimensions. The tube 4 may be of circular or elliptical crosssection and may taper towards the exit portion 6. Instead of the tube 4 an U-shaped cross-section channel may be provided. |
