A gas-liq. contact column consists of several contact zone each subdivided into three or more adjoining packings. The geometrical parameters of the packings differs, depending on the vapour and liquid loads and are matched as regards free passage cross-section to let each packing operate within an optimum load range. The contact zone of a column with a descending liq. phase and an ascending vapour phase consists of three packings. The lowest has the greatest free passage cross-section for the flow and the packings have successively smaller passages to suit the smaller load. The redn. is achieved by decreasing height and dia. of the packing elements, the size and number of gas passage holes, the size of the screen plates. Such a column combines a high sepg. efficiency with a min. of pressure loss.
|
