A silver halide color photographic material comprising a photographic silver halide emulsion containing a yellow dye-forming coupler represented by the following general formula (I) or (II): <IMAGE> (I) or <IMAGE> (II) wherein R1 represents an alkyl group or an aryl group; R2 represents a chlorine atom or a lower alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; R3 and R4, which may be the same or different, each represents an alkyl group having 1 to 22 carbon atom, a phenoxyalkyl group having 7 to 32 carbon atoms, a monocyclic aralkyl group or a phenyl group, a phenyl group which is substituted with an alkoxy group, an alkyl group, an acyl group, or an alkoxycarbonyl group; and X is selected from the group consisting of groups represented by the following general formulae (III) to (V): <IMAGE> (III) wherein Z1 represents the non-metallic atoms necessary to form together with the <IMAGE> moiety a 5-membered ring or a 6-membered ring, <IMAGE> (IV) wherein Z2 represents the non-metallic atoms necessary to form together with the <IMAGE> moiety an unsaturated 5-membered ring or an unsaturated 6-membered ring, or <IMAGE> (V) wherein Z3 represents the non-metallic atoms necessary to form together with <IMAGE> an imidazole ring, a triazole ring or a tetrazole ring.
